WINTER
Out the front door at the Glen house you will find yourself in your own private winter playground. The best sledding anywhere awaits you on the hilly golf course property that is now your private front yard. Enjoy snow shoeing or create your own cross country ski tracks with the Jordan slopes and White Cap mountain as your back drop. When you are ready to hit the slopes, the Sunday River Trolley will pick you up right at the end of the driveway! At the end of the day, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate gathered with the children around the gas fire pit on the deck, cheer on your favorite football team from the hot tub with a beer from the bar, or curl up on the couch with a blanket, glass of wine, good friends' conversation and a roaring fire.
Named “the greatest ski town in the universe” by Ski Magazine, the Bethel area offers skiing and snowboarding at Sunday River Ski Resort, Mt. Abram Family Resort, and Black Mountain of Maine. Bethel is Maine’s Nordic ski capital with three ski centers: Carter's Cross Country Ski Center, Sunday River Inn Cross Country Ski Center, and the Bethel Inn Nordic Ski Center, offering 120 kilometers of groomed trails for skiing and snowshoeing, rental equipment, instruction, special events, and races for all ages and abilities. Thirty-five minutes away, at the base of Mt. Washington, Great Glen Trails & Outdoor Center offers 40 more kilometers of trails and “up close” views of the Presidential Mountains of New Hampshire. A snowmobiler’s paradise awaits with hundreds of miles of beautiful, groomed trails. Spectacular views can be found in Grafton Notch State Park and the White Mountain National Forest. Rentals and guided tours are available as well! Be sure to check out the snow tubing, ice skating, dog sledding, skijorring, horse drawn carriage rides, fine dining and weekend family shows hosted by the Mountain within a 5 minute drive. Within a 10 minute drive you can try out indoor rock climbing, laser tag, a movie theater, skiing at Mt. Abram, and shopping in the quaint Bethel village. Within a 45 minute drive you can hike Mt. Washington's Tuckerman's Ravine for some extreme backcountry skiing, ice climb, shop the outlets in North Conway, take the Cog Railway to the top of Mt. Washington to experience what extreme weather really is, and view hundreds of miles of Maine and New Hampshire from one spot. Visit Storybook Land or The Old West. Shop in Gorham's charming village.
